Different Music Tastes

Different Music Tastes

What makes music so great? Is it that rapper’s style of music? Is it that amazing guitar solo that comes in halfway through the song? Or is it something more?

I believe the thing that makes music so great is that we can all like our own style of music, not someone else’s just because that’s what they listen to.

But music taste has changed dramatically over the last few decades and some may argue that the change in music is better or worse.

From Jimi Hendrix to Def Leppard, from Metallica to Juice WRLD. All these artists have their own style of music.

The way modern day music is made has changed a lot. Most rappers do not even use instruments in their music. Music is mostly made through computers nowadays whereas music from the 90’s and below is made with electric guitars, drums and bass guitars.

But it’s not just how the music is made that has changed, it’s what the music is about that has also changed in recent decades.

A vast majority of music from the 80’s was about partying. Mötley Crüe wrote a lot of music based on their rock ‘n’ roll party lifestyle.

The song Kickstart My Heart by Mötley Crüe is about their party lifestyle and drug overdose, as said in the lyrics, “When I get high, I get high on speed. Top fuel funny car’s a drug for me.”

Modern day rap is more about heartbreak and depression. In Juice WRLD’s song Lucid Dreams it states “I still see your shadows in my room. Can’t take back the love that I gave you. It’s to the point whereI love and I hate you.” These lyrics hint that after breaking up with his girlfriend he still sees her in his room even though she’s not there.

But in the end, music is music and everybody has their own taste.
