Florence Bruns is now a senior and has made significant achievements throughout her years at Lakeland High School.
Bruns has been at LHS since her sophomore year, previously attending STEM Charter Academy. One of her best achievements was that she held a 4.0 GPA at the time of her transfer.
Good grades are always good to put on applications, whether or not the college has a high acceptance rate.
Bruns plans to go to NIC for two years to get her nursing prerequisite and then transfer to Lewis and Clark for her bachelor’s.
Knowing that she has had good grades makes her feel better about her chances at college.
“I do think that it will help, even though NIC is kind of a given,” Bruns said.
Even though the acceptance rate to NIC is 100 percent, she still wants to strive to do her best.
Bruns knows it will be hard work, but she is up for the challenge and knows that if she keeps her eye on the prize, she can achieve it.
Bruns has always loved and enjoyed working with people, and nursing involves this.
She knew that whatever job she went into, she wanted to be able to help people.
Her mom is a nurse, and Bruns has heard great things from her mother and some exciting stories that make her want to enter this profession.
Marti Fuhriman believes that Since coming to LHS, Bruns has become more social.
Bruns was really proud of herself for getting her license as a sophomore and having her car.
When a student earns their license, it is excellent because they have their freedom, and Bruns was given that when she got her car.
Something that Bruns is great at is babysitting. In the past, Micheal Dunn was Brun’s English and journalism teacher. Sometimes, he has her babysit his kids and says she is a very responsible person.
“Florence is a very responsible individual,” Dunn said. “I’ve had her in class and she is genuinely one of the nicest people I know.”
Many people who know Bruns would say she is a great person.
Amy Fortin The administrative assistant says that Bruns has brought kindness to LHS.
