Originally, SATs were supposed to happen on March 14, but they were pushed back to April 10.
Some may have been prepared to take it because they were studying and doing what they could to prepare.
It is now an inconvenience to be pushed back, while for others, it is excellent because they have more time to prepare for it to get a high score.
Many may not take the SAT since it is now optional to include on a college application. This means that if students get a high score, they can put it on their application, but they can omit it if they get a low score. If students gain a high score and decide to place it on their application, it will help them stand out.
The SATs can only help the student. They test students’ readiness for college and help ensure that they will do well.
The school’s offering of this is beneficial because it is free; however, if students decide to take it their senior year, they will have to do it on their own time and pay about 50 to 60 dollars.
Libby Hatcher is a junior who signed up for it to ensure she had it in case she went to college.
“I wish we could have just had it when the date was originally set so that it could have just been done and over with,” Hatcher said.
She plans on winging it because she is already well prepared based on what she has been learning in Algebra 2 and her other classes.
Melissa Brumbaugh is the library lead and will be a romer for the test. This means she will give the proctors breaks and move from room to room.
She thinks that it is significant that students have an extension to prepare for whatever they are doing.
She mentions that students should also log into Bluebook, on the login page of all the issued Chromebooks, and Bigfuture.
Brumbaugh says that no one knows where their life will take them, and they may need it.
“Students should participate in the SATs because you never know where life will take you, and you may need to have taken one day for your future,” Brumbaugh said.
This is true because Emalie Hardaway initially did not want to attend college in her junior year. She still took the SAT, and eventually, over the summer before her senior year, she decided to major in veterinary technology. So, even though it is optional to get into Pearson Community College, she was glad she took it because she could put it on her application.
The test will be on April 10 from the first period to the mid-third period.
