The Sandpoint Bulldogs (3-4) traveled to Rathdrum, to face the Lakeland Hawks (3-4) on their homecoming game and senior night with the Bulldogs pulling out a 6-0 victory at Corbett Field

Each team played their hearts out and fought a defensive battle until the final whistle in their final regular-season game.

Each team played well offensively throughout the season, but both defenses thrived defending their opponent’s offense with the snowy conditions and frosty air. Sandpoint earned the only score of the game with six seconds remaining on a 62-yard punt returned for a touchdown by Gerrit Cox.

Neither team was able to earn more than 150 offensive yards all game. A significant difference in the game between both teams was that Sandpoint won the turnover battle, ultimately  giving them the win.

In the final quarter, the Hawks threatened multiple times, putting together a string of big plays only to fall short of the end zone with just seconds left in the game.

Regardless of the harsh weather conditions, running back John White still significantly impacted, rushing for 71 yards. Receiver Alden Waddington also made an impact catching five catches for 60 yards.

Sandpoint clinched a playoff berth with this big win over Lakeland. Lakeland players and coaches thought that losing this game eliminated them from playoff contention; however, they eventually discovered that they had earned an at large bid into the playoffs and will be playing this week in Pocatello, Idaho, against Century High School.
