Many students around Lakeland High School live extraordinary lives, and one of these interesting lives belongs to Gerald Yeahquo.
Yeahquo is currently in his fourth year at LHS and has lived every moment to the fullest. He always looks at the bigger picture of things and makes every moment positive.
“My time at LHS has been interesting but yet fun,” Yeahquo said.
He tries as hard as he can with everything he does to have the most fun possible.
Most of Yeahquo’s memories have been made with his best friend, Brayden Tirri. They are an inseparable duo.
“Brayden is just a good guy, and we have some of the funniest memories of my life together,” Yeahquo said.
Football has always been an important part of Yeahquo’s life since he started playing in junior high. He plays defensive line and, on occasion, fullback. He takes his football career seriously, and his effort is clearly seen on the field.
“Gerald is just one interesting kid,” Head Coach Mike Schroeder said. “You never know his next move, but when he tries, he can make an impact on the field.”
However, since the end of this year’s football season, Yeahquo’s football career has come to an end.
“Playing that last snap of football was hard,” Yeahquo said. “I was not ready to hang the cleats up for the last time, and it still makes me sad thinking about it.”
Gerald likes to look at the bigger picture and find importance in his friends and the people he is closest with.
“Once I found the true meaning behind the big picture, I’ve been a completely different person, and I think that its value is truly amazing,” Yeahquo said.
Like many, Yeahquo’s favorite animal happens to be a great white shark. Sharks are something that interests Yeahquo enough to the point where he thinks it is his spirit animal.
“The great white shark is not just an amazing animal, but it’s the apex predator of the ocean,” Yeahquo said.
Many video games keep Yeahquo distracted from society, which includes Fortnite and Madden.
“I’ve been playing Fortnite since the day it came out, and I haven’t ever regretted playing that game,” Yeahquo said. “It’s fun, and with Madden, I enjoy playing that but only on the next-gen console because it’s more realistic.”
Music is something that Yeahquo has always been around, as he plays the bass guitar in his uncle’s band. His favorite music artist is Tyler The Creator.
“Tyler is just pure man. his music is easy to understand, and he has so many good songs,” Yeahquo said.
