On Jan. 13-14, the Lakeland Hawks wrestling team wrestled at the River City Duals tournament.

The Hawks came out of the tournament in fifth place after beating the Post Falls’ number two team.

On Friday night the Hawks wrestled in two duals, first, they would face the Mountain View Mavericks. The Hawks lost this dual with a final score of 78-12.

The second dual was against the Medical Lake Cardinals. The Hawks ended up running away with this dual the final score was 72-18. This would end up putting the Hawks into the gold bracket for day two.

On Saturday the Hawks wrestled three more duals. The first dual was against Black foot and the close dual came to an end with a final score of 45-42.

In the second dual, they took on the Lewiston Bangles. The dual started off rocky for the Hawks but they brought it back in the second half to pull off the 54-33 win. The third and final dual of the weekend was against the Post Falls Trojan’s second-string team. This dual-ended with the Hawks on top 42-34.

The Hawks had three wrestlers receive the undefeated award for the tournament. Dylan Scott, Jarren Knopp, and Devon Howell all won five out of their five matches. This was Howell’s second year in a row winning this award.
