Many Hawks PR in Quad Meet

The Lakeland Hawks competed in a track meet on April 21. 

The Hawks competed against the Lake City Timberwolves, Post Falls Trojans, and the Moscow Bears. 

The weather was not ideal for this meet, however, the Lakeland team persevered and performed very well overall. Throughout the meet, there was sunshine, wind, rain, and hail. 

Overall yesterday, the boys got second and the girls placed first. 

The boys 4×100 team (John Cornish, Terry Edwards, Richie Thomas, and Thomas Calder) got into the 43’s seconds almost beating the school record. 

The boys 4×200 team (John Cornish, Elijah Sindt, Bryce Henry, and Richie Thomas) got first with a time of one minute and 34.6 seconds. 

For the women’s 1600 meters, Kailyn Soenen placed first with a time of six minutes and 4.82 seconds. 

Candice Spears placed second a with a time of six minutes and 21.84 seconds for the Lakeland team. 

Savannah Spalding placed third with a time of six minutes and 28.99 seconds. 

All three of the women’s 1600 meters runners were PRed. 

For the men’s 1600 meters Owen Elizondo-Bachiero PR placed second with a time of five minutes and 1.38 seconds. 

Ziya Munyer competed in the triple jump and ended up taking first. 

Munyer stated,” This is my first time doing it, I got 34 feet and I won overall.” 

Munyer also mentioned, “ It was really well run, I was happy with the outcome as a team we did well overall.”

Terry Edwards PRd in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.76 seconds.

Regan Wright got a season record in the 100-meter dash with a time of 14.14 seconds for Lakeland. 

For the men’s discus, Grant Roth placed first throwing a distance of 134 feet and two inches, Roth also PRed. 

For the women’s discus, Addie Kiefer placed first for the Lakeland team throwing 101 feet and six inches. 

For the women’s pole vault, Samantha Daniels placed first with nine feet and Alanna Hinkle placed second with eight feet. 

For the men’s pole vault, Cody Morse placed first overall and jumped twelve feet. 

For the men’s long jump, Braden Smith placed third, with 18 feet and 8.5 inches also PRed for the Lakeland team. 

For the men’s triple jump, Braden Smith placed third, with 39 feet and 1 inch also PRing for the Lakeland team. 

For the women’s long jump, Samantha Daniels placed second and a season record of 14 feet and 4 inches. 

The next track meet that the Hawks will be competing in is the Lakeland Take Flight Relays on April 29th, against, Coeur d’ Alene and Post Falls.
