Lakeland Track Competes Under The Spotlights

Similar to a Friday night in fall, the crowd roared, the lights shined bright, and the adrenaline was building in Kenna Simon’s face as she awaited the baton to reach her fingertips.

Lakeland competed in a tri-meet against Moscow and Post Falls at Post Falls High school on March 24. With multiple athletes out due to injury, the results weren’t ideal for the Hawks but some young athletes stepped up and there were some positive takeaways.

Terry Edwards made his return from injury and started his 2022 track campaign with a bang. Edwards took first place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 52 seconds and he placed third in the long jump with a 19’ 1” leap,

“My season didn’t start off the way I expected, but I’m excited to be back and looking forward to upcoming meets,” Edwards said.

The Hawks will have a week off and get some much-needed recovery time over spring break. The track team will next compete on April 9th in Sherwood, Oregon for the “Need For Speed” Classic.
