Ever wonder what the process is for a blood drive? Ever wonder what the requirements are to give blood? Lakeland students got to experience what it was like to give blood on Mar. 4.

The process to give blood requires signing up to give blood, getting a checkup, giving blood, and getting refreshments afterward.

This process for some blood donors can be anywhere from 30 minutes all the way up to 90 minutes.

Vitalant came to Lakeland Senior Highschool and a lot of students ended up donating blood.

Frank Vieria is a Lakeland Highschool counselor who was present for most of the blood drive.

Vieria says “ It was amazing to see our students turn out to donate life-saving blood for our community.”

Luke Ferguson is a senior at Lakeland Highschool, who was one of the 63 who donated.

Ferguson states “ A lot of people, think it’s intimidating and scary but it’s not as bad as it is made out to be, the people are to help you and make sure that it runs smoothly.”

Lakeland Senior Highschool had 63 successful donations and all of that blood could go on to save 189 people’s lives.
