Lakeland Sends Nine Wrestlers to State

Ever wonder what it takes to qualify for wrestling state? This past weekend on Feb. 19, Lakeland had nine Wrestlers qualify for state. 

Lucas Williams is a senior at Lakeland Senior High School and wrestles in the 138 weight class. Lucas has been wrestling for 10 years and has qualified for state all four years of his high school career. 

Matt Williams is a junior at Lakeland Senior High School and wrestles in the 113 weight class. Matt has wrestled for five years and has qualified for state three times, including this year. 

Devon Howell is also a junior at Lakeland Senior Highschool and wrestles in the 220 weight class. Devon has a younger brother on the JV wrestling team who is a freshman named Austin Howell. 

Preston Jeffs is a junior at Lakeland High School and wrestles in the 285 heavyweight class. Preston has been wrestling for four years and has qualified for state three times. 

Annika Thompson is a sophomore at Lakeland Highschool who wrestles in the 160 weight class. Annika has been wrestling for four years and this is her second year going to state, last year she qualified for fourth. 

Kros O’Brien is a freshman at Lakeland Highschool who wrestles in the 126 weight class and this is his first year qualifying for state, making him the only freshman who qualified for state this year for the wrestling team.
