Lady Hawks Win Close Game to Advance

Addie Kiefer 20 points helped the Lakeland Lady Hawks (8-9) defeat the Moscow Lady Bears (6-15) in a close matchup with a score of 39-36 in the first round of the 4A Region 1 girls basketball tournament 

Addie Kiefer led the Hawks in points with 20, while also racking up six rebounds, two steals, two assists, and a block. 

Payton Sterling had six points and three steals for Lakeland. Kenna Simon and Ziya Munyer had eight rebounds each, Landree Simon had five points and three assists.

Senior point guard Angela Lassen of Moscow lead the team in points with 12, the only player with double-digit points. 

Lakeland fell behind quickly, scoring no points in the first quarter and Moscow held a 7-0 lead. 

Things got better for the Hawks in the 2nd quarter, scoring nine points, while Moscow held their lead by 6 points. 

Entering the half, the score was 9-15 with Moscow up on Lakeland. 

Addie Kiefer went off in the 2nd half, scoring 16 of her 20 points to help secure the close game against a 4A Rival. 

Lakeland will play Sandpoint on Wednesday at 6 p.m. in Game 1 of a best-of-3 series for the regional title.
