Hawks finish 8th place at the Inland Empire Classic

The Lakeland Hawks Wrestling team traveled to Central Valley High School to compete in the Inland Empire Classic over the weekend.

The Hawks finished 8th out of 23 teams.

In the championship match at 106 pounds, Lakelands Jaren Knopp lost a tough battle to Coeur d’Alene’s Christian Kelley. Knopp fought to the very end but unfortunately lost 8-4. Knopp placed second.

At 113 pounds, Matthew Williams placed fifth. Williams won his first three matches and then lost in 56 seconds in the semi-finals. Williams then lost in the first rounds of the constellations rounds and then won his next to place fifth.

Then at 138 pounds, senior Lucas Williams placed second. Williams won all of his matches up until the championship match, Williams fought in a tough match but lost in the seconds period.

The final placer for the Hawks is at 170 pounds with Senior Devon Suko. Suko went all three periods in the championship match but unfortunately lost in an 8-6 decision.

The Hawks next match is a double dual against Bigfork and Libby in Libby Montana.
