The Lakeland Hawks defeated the St. Maries Lumberjacks 50-0 on Sep. 18, led by over 300 yards of total offense.

Starting runningback, John Cornish, had another 100-yard game with multiple touchdowns.

This season, Cornish has six touchdowns and has been the rock of the Lakeland offense along with their superstar wide receiver tandem of Alden Waddington and Richie Thomas.

Thomas scored another touchdown, continuing his red hot senior season.

When asked about the team’s performance, Thomas said, “ Our offense was clicking from the start and couldn’t be stopped all night. Obviously, our 50 point shutout showed that our defense was great too, but we are firing on all cylinders right now heading into our Post Falls game this week.”

Devon Suko commanded the offense once again and threw two touchdowns and 160 yards. Alden Waddington had three catches for 75 yards and a touchdown averaging 25 yards per reception. Cornish had 15 carries for 111 yards and two touchdowns.

In total, the Hawks had 341 yards of total offense while only allowing 113 yards on the other side of the ball.

The Hawks led 29-0 at the half and didn’t take their foot off the gas, scoring 21 more in the second half.

After starting the season with two straight losses, the Hawks have now won three straight, heading into their big away game with the Post Falls Trojans this week on Sep. 24 at 7 pm.
