Lady Hawks stun Sandpoint, are off to State!

The Lakeland Lady Hawks and Sandpoint Lady Bulldogs played quite a series and battled back and forth in all three games.

The Lady Bulldogs took game one of the series, 8-5, and put the Lady Hawks in an elimination game in game two. 

The Lady Hawks had to travel north to Sandpoint and play their potential last game of the season. However, they battled and beat the Lady Bulldogs, 13-4, forcing a game three in Rathdrum. 

In game three, the Lakeland Lady Hawks secured the victory in a close game, 13-11, to advance to state. 

Kathryn Wardak started the game on the mound for Lakeland, tossed 2.1 innings, striking out four, and allowed two hits, three runs and one earned run. 

Hailey Gosch came into the game in the third inning and threw one inning, walking two, striking out one and allowing four earned runs on two hits and five runs. 

Devry Bursch closed out the game for Lakeland and threw 3.2 innings, walking two, striking out three, and allowing three runs on three hits. None of the three runs allowed were earned. 

Payton Sterling, Delaney Gosch, Haylee Smit, and Harley See all had multi-hit games contributing to the dominant Lakeland offense. 

Kyleigh Dyer, Olivia Staudinger, Delaney Gosch, and Haylee Smit all had multiple runs batted in for the Lady Hawks. 

Lakeland will play their first state game on Friday at 11 a.m. against the Ridgevue Warhawks in Nampa, Idaho.
