The Lakeland Hawks and Moscow Bears split a competitive doubleheader, with each team claiming a win in a back-and-forth day on the diamond.
In the first game, Lakeland battled through early adversity to secure an 11–9 victory. The Hawks fell behind quickly after Moscow put up a strong opening inning, but Lakeland responded with steady offense throughout the game. A big third inning helped shift momentum, and the Hawks sealed the win with a six-run outburst in the sixth.
“That win is big for us going into districts” Griffin Tamangi said.
Lakeland’s lineup delivered consistent production, totaling 12 hits. Multiple players contributed at the plate, driving in runs and keeping pressure on Moscow’s defense. Despite committing a few errors, the Hawks’ offense proved to be the difference in the high-scoring contest.
Moscow answered back in the second game, bouncing back to earn a win and split the series. After struggling to contain Lakeland’s bats in the opener, the Bears tightened up defensively and found more rhythm offensively. Their ability to capitalize on scoring opportunities and limit mistakes helped them regain control.
The doubleheader showcased the competitiveness between the two teams, with both lineups producing and neither side backing down. Lakeland showed resilience in game one with its late surge, while Moscow demonstrated its ability to respond under pressure in game two.
With the split, both teams walk away with momentum and lessons learned as they continue their seasons.
