Almost everyone looks forward to spring break giving them time away from classrooms and tests to do something fun and to hang out with their friends and family.
Most of the students at Lakeland High School are doing something a little different to enjoy their time away from school.
Many students are going to stay home and hang around town with their friends enjoying the time they have outside of classes.
Others will be traveling to places like Hawaii, Mexico, and even New York City.
Lillian Mihara is a Freshman at LHS and she is going to Boston to visit her family, which she is very excited for since she doesn’t see them often. Then she will go to New York City to visit Times square and go shopping.
“I have always wanted to go to New York City so I’m so excited for spring break,” Mihara said.
She can not recall one spring break where her family did not travel somewhere, this makes spring break one of her favorite times of the year.
Another freshman, McKinley Thorton is going to have a very busy spring break.
“The break gives me a break in between the long stretch of spring and summer,” Thorton said.
Thornton does 4H and shows animals. She will be buying her goat and getting her pig over spring break.
Along with this, she will be going to her annual church retreat with her friends to learn more about God and glorify him together.
Her favorite memory of spring break has been going to these retreats every year and getting her animals to show at competitions.
Overall, spring break gives time for students to have space from school and do things that are important and meaningful to them.
