Siblings together in the same school is either a recipe for disaster or a really fun experience for them. Some kids would say they hate having their siblings with them in school. Others would say they love it. The Reimche siblings are one example of enjoying having their sibling with them.
Junior Aaliyah Reimche has been at Lakeland High School since her sophomore year, and her younger brother, Braxton Reimche, just joined her as a freshman.
They both said they see each other often in the halls and will acknowledge each other in passing. They also have track practice together, so they see each other at school even after school hours.
Aaliyah Reimche said that, since Braxton Reimche has entered high school, a lot more people have recognized her as her older sister. Braxton Reimche said that he feels the need to be more responsible.
“I feel less obliged to do stupid stuff since she might see,” Braxton Reimche said.
Both Reimche siblings said they prefer having the other at the same school as them, with Aaliyah Reimche saying it’s a fun experience having her younger brother at the same school as her.
“He’s fun to talk to and it’s funny to see how he is outside of home,” Aaliyah Reimche said.
Braxton Reimche had a more sincere answer when thinking of sharing a school with his older sister.
“It is always enlightening to see her face when walking through the halls,” Braxton Reimche said.
The Reimche siblings are just one example of siblings enjoying being in the same school; the Robbins siblings are another.
Senior Lottie Robbins recently went online, but she used to share the halls of Lakeland with her younger sister, junior Jackie Robbins. They both said they didn’t see each other often, but when they did, it would be during lunch.
Lottie Robbins said that her school life got a lot better once Jackie Robbins joined her at the high school. Her day brightened whenever she saw her younger sister.
“I was able to see her throughout the day more and just be able to hangout,” Lottie Robbins said.
Jackie Robbins also said that her school life improved when she joined her older sister, especially after being separated for Jackie’s last year of middle school.
“Just having someone who I could go to for anything was so relieving and simple,” Jackie Robbins said.
The Robbins sisters both said that they preferred having each other in school. Lottie Robbins said that having Jackie Robbins because she’ll always have her sister to hang out with, even if she doesn’t feel like she has a lot of friends. Jackie Robbins said she feels better knowing that if Lottie Robbins needs her, she’s available.
“She has struggled with some health stuff so I feel like having her close takes some stress off,” Jackie Robbins said.
These two sibling duos at Lakeland High School are just two of many, and they showcase how a good sibling relationship will present itself within school.
