As winter slowly comes to an end so do winter sports, that includes girls basketball. What a statement season the Lakeland girls team put on.
In the big picture the Hawks finished with a record of 21-5, which allowed them to sit in the number one seed during the post season.
What an accomplishment for this team, these kinds of things are what these players worked for all throughout the off season.
The Hawks post season run was one for the ages, from winning a game on a buzzer beater three, to eventually taking third place in the state of Idaho. A trophy that will be at Lakeland forever, memories made with teammates and coaches that’ll last even longer. A statement made by the Hawks and the coaching staff.
“One of the best things about our team is our coaches” Addi Foresmen said
A team that puts their trust in their coaches is a team that wins big. The Hawks put the pedal to the metal all season long and their hard work paid off.
Although it was not a state championship win and first place trophy, this Hawks team left it all on the court and that’s something most teams can’t say they did. Dominating all season long, this team was one that people will talk about for a while.
A very entertaining team to watch to say the least, scoring from all over the court and beating the Lakeland Hawks main rival in one of the biggest games of the year, Battle for the Paddle.
Overall, this team won trophies and battled teams till the end every game, but if you look a little closer you see a team that’s bonded over the season, and truly learned the art of team basketball which allowed them to succeed as much as they did this season.
