Casey Foster is a go with the flow kind of person but she still has big dreams and has desires to go somewhere in life. Her heart might as well be made of gold and she shows true empathy towards others. She is loyal and sticks with her friends in their darkest times.
She is welcoming and can have a conversation with anyone without judging them. She is goofy and playful, brightening up the day of anyone she passes. Intelligence and work ethic are practically her middle name. She might remind you of your typical rom-com girl, in all the right ways.
Her family loves to play games like Piles and watch movies like how they are currently watching all the “Pirates of the Caribbean” movies. She is kind and sweet, smart, witty and likes to read. She has two dogs and one cat. On Sundays, Foster helps in the kids ministry. She currently takes care of nursery babies and kindergartners. Next year, she hopes to move onto the merge room where she would help fourth and fifth graders. She has also been a part of the youth worship team since the sixth grade.
“I put a lot of time into the kids ministry and it’s one of my favorite things,” Foster said. “I’ve made a lot of new friends and they have pushed me towards god in so many ways and it’s helped me a lot.”
Her and her family love to have outdoor movie nights during the summer. They set up twinkling lights and set up lawn chairs. They inflate a huge projector screen and play some of their favorite movies. Neighbors, the fun ones at least, come outside to join them. Kids run and play, adults talk and visit. The Fosters create the perfect depiction of what a small home town neighborhood should look, sound, and feel like. One evening, on a lightly chilly, winding, and cloudy night they played the movie Twisters. Mother nature was the perfect partner and seemed to know just when to create a light gust of wind or when to make a cloud over head seem darker. This is where Casey Foster comes from. This is where her story starts. The small home town of Rathdrum.
In the sixth grade at Lakeland Middle School, Foster decided to try track. She found a love for it and she decided to keep growing her skills.
“I really found a love for sprinting,” Foster said.
She continued Track and Field into high school and her freshman year she came out hot. The four by one team Foster was a part of broke the school record.
“One thing I admire about Casey is her work ethic,” Cayla Zlateff said. “She is really hard working, and she dedicates herself to everything she puts her mind to.”
Not too long after this accomplishment though, Foster had a bump in the road. One day during practice, the long jump coach had Foster try it out. Though she was definitely good at it for it being her first try, they had never practiced her landings.
When Foster was put in the meet the next day, she competed for long jump as well as sprints.
When she went to compete in her sprints she noticed her hip was starting to hurt more and more. Foster was not able to train for two weeks after this injury, per say, and although it was a small injury, it was still hard. During this two week break, she missed the infamous Wala Wala Twilight tournament. The Wala Wala tournament is a special experience. This is where the team or at least some, go to a meet. The interesting or special thing about this meet is it’s over night. The bus leaves late in the evening and the athletes compete through the night under the lights till the morning. It is one of many favorite memories of many track and field athletes. During these two weeks some of Foster’s biggest supporters were, one of the track coaches, Tim Kiefer and her dad. They constantly gave stretches for her to do and never failed to give encouragement.
Today, Foster plans on having a strong sophomore year of track. She hopes to break another school record and she also has hopes to go to state. During freshman year, her and her relay team were less than a second behind from making it.
“In track specifically she is very goal oriented and motivative,” Leah Brundige said.
Looking further into the future, Foster hopes to go to college as a track athlete.
With Foster’s unwavering dedication, big heart, empathy and kindness towards others, she has every opportunity to go above and beyond in life.
