Rathdrum is mixed with a variety of fast food; many teens get food for lunch, picking between Taco Bell, Zips, and McDonald’s. No matter who it is, the food is good, but at what cost? How can people get the food they love with the budget they have?
Taco Bell is well known in Rathdrum; people go there for lunch or dinner, even midnight snacks.
Taco Bell has the “luxe value” menu, where the highest-priced thing is 3 bucks, making it a good place to go to get something good to eat for cheap.
Jenna Hollis always goes for the Cheesy Double Beef Burrito, which is $2.79 with a Baja Blast during happy hour.
“It’s the best place to hang out with friends and get a bite to eat,” Hollis said.
Happy hour is a great deal for people on a budget wanting a nice refreshing drink with their meal; it lasts from 2pm to 5pm every day, and medium drinks and freezes are only a dollar.
Another great place to get something to eat is McDonald’s. It’s been around since 1940.
Because it is one of the closer restaurants to Lakeland High School, right across the street, many teens go there for lunch or even get breakfast before school.
They have some great deals for breakfast choices as well.
They also offer buy-one-get-one deals and small soft drinks for a dollar.
“It’s very yummy and they have lots of different things,” Mia Brown said
Brown usually gets the six-piece Chicken McNuggets Happy Meal and it usually costs around $4.00 and $9.69.
The best deal is the $5 meal deal that comes with a sandwich, 4-piece nuggets, small fries, and a drink. Witch is perfect for a lunch or after-school meal.
Although Zip’s is one of the furthest from the high school, many teens walking around stop in to get a snack. If teens are out with their big friend group wanting to feed everyone, at Zip’s you can get a Family Meal Deal; if they all pitch in to get approximately $28.69, they can all share four Papa Joes, five cheeseburgers, and a tub of fries, feeding up to five people.
A pretty good deal.
Although more expensive, Logan Miller’s favorite thing to get at Zip’s is the waffle fries.
“I just love their fries; whoever makes them needs a raise” Miller said.
They also have budget deals like hot dogs or value meals that are more affordable for teens.
