Impressed. Awe-struck. Those are both synonyms for how the world felt after watching “Iron Lung”
Everybody was highly anticipating this movie. For years, people have been on the edge of their seat, waiting for the premier film, and first of hopefully many by Mark “Markiplier” Fischbach.
This film has far exceeded the expectation Markiplier originally had. He had been expecting “a few million”, just assuming he would make back on his $3-4 Million dollar investment, but has climbed to 13x the investment, making ~$44 million dollars from the self-financed film.
That’s correct, this film was *completely* paid out of Markiplier’s own pocket. Both production, and distribution.
His aim with the film was to challenge the current monopoly Hollywood has on film production. Hopefully paving a path for future indie film artists, and directors.
This, by all means, is a massive step in achieving this goal.
Hopefully the inspired youth of today take note of this achievement, and follow in the footsteps of the creatives making it possible to express themselves through a medium they see fit.
With the inspirational segment aside, this film is well received, getting thousands of good reviews, and averaging 7.7/10 on IMDB.
Hopefully films like these continue to make it though the grape vine, and set examples for future indie film makers.
