The Lakeland wrestling team travelled to Post Falls on Jan. 13 and they left defeated.
LHS had struggled during this meet due to a lot of missed calls and the heavy weight not performing up to the standards to help the team. The Hawks left too many matches up to a decision which caused them to lose.
Some students had performed very well in their weight. Carson Leonard won the 120 division by decision.
Gage McWatters 175 won by pin.
Cole Cooper won the 150 division by pin, Bryan Patrick won the 98 division by pin, and Kade Knopp won the 132 division by decision.
The Hawks will have their next meet at home for Battle for the Paddle (BFTP) against Sandpoint Bulldogs on Jan. 16.
BFTP is the biggest rivalry tournament of the season for wrestling and they have to perform their best to help score points for LHS.
“I know we can beat Sandpoint, but will have to face the challenge of rule changes.” Gage McWatters said.
“The key is to have Stingy matches and not give up pins and not get pinned.” McWatters said.
