The Lakeland High School (LHS) girls basketball team shuts down Post Falls High School (PFHS) Trojans on Dec. 16.
The first half was rough for the hawks, not playing aggressively or playing as a team. Senior Karstyn Kiefer and junior Macy Bretveld were a success the whole first half. Going into halftime the hawks were up 39-22.
“We didn’t play with the energy that we hoped for going into that game.” Coach Caelyn Caufield said. “We held on to the game and finished the job,” Caufield said.
The hawks started off great in the second half, holding PFHS to 6 points in the third quarter. Towards the end of the game the hawks were getting tons of fouls called and made the game a close call. The hawks finished the game with a 53-44 win over PFHS.
“We were working well as a team. The only thing that hurt us was the simple mistakes being made.” Kar. Kiefer said.
Kar. Kiefer had 14 points, Bretveld had 10 points, and Sophomore Anabel Bowie had 8 points
At 6-1 for the team it means staying focused, disciplined and working harder each day.
The hawks are now ranked 12th in Idaho and first in their conference.
LHS plays at home Dec. 18 against Shadle Park high school at 7pm.
