First Round of the football playoffs. The Lakeland Hawks and the Lewiston Bengals face off at 7 p.m, at Lewiston High School.
The Hawks, Bengals, and the Sandpoint Bulldogs all had to face off in a Kansas City tie-breaker on Oct. 27th. The Bengals ended up winning becoming the IEL 5A Champions.
Since the Hawks lost the tie-breaker they now have to play away in the first round and have lost their 5th seed position.
“I am looking forward to putting up some big points against Lewiston, hopefully beating them by 20 or more, for our team to cooperate well with each other,” Emmit Rivadeneira said. “The Kansas City Tie-Breaker taught us to come better together as a team and bring a lot of rage and spirit going into the game.”
The Hawks are ready to go into the game and show Lewiston who the better team is. They beat the Bengals on Oct. 24th at Lakeland. The score ended 47-17.
Joey Couper said they need to be more aggressive right off the ball and wrap up and tackle better, and if they play as a team they should dominate this game.
This week for the Hawks has been practice and preparation getting ready for an intense game.
“It is my first high school playoff game so I am a bit nervous but I have my teammates and coaches to help me prepare,” Kolson Asher said. “I think we will do pretty good. “Knowing that we beat them by about 20 the first game of the season. Coming into this game we are prepared and ready to beat them.”
