Lakeland girl’s soccer team is continuing to play their hearts out in the game they love. They won against Lakeside High School 4-0 on September 24th.
“We just had fun that game,” Libby Hatcher said, “We knew we were going to win, so it was easier to go into the game. We worked on things we needed to. I think we need to communicate better as a team.”
They did lose a conference game against Lewiston Bengals 5-0 on September 26th. The girl’s soccer team is trying to figure out their footing to make it state they are winning some and losing some. Overall, they are improving and are going to continue the hard work and effort throughout districts.
“I think we need to score more because our scoring average is really low,” Natalee Rose said, “We have ten plus shots that do not go in. I think our defense line is strong. Our defenders have saved at least five goals this year.”
Lakelands boys’ soccer is making improvements in their game and won against St. George’s on September 24th. This was a great win for the Hawks because they beat the second-ranked team in Washington while being ranked 51st in Idaho. Gerard Breyer and Ethan Hunt scored both of Lakeland’s goals. They have won 3 of their last 4 matchups, showing immense improvement from last season.
“Our coach is very good at finding our weaknesses and giving drills so we can improve,” Ethan Hunt said, “I think our offense still needs improvement. I hope we continue our improvement so we can make it to state.”
They had a conference game against the Lewiston Bengals that ended in a tie. Cade Pittman could get the Hawks on the board.
Lakeland Girls Volleyball lost against the Post Falls Trojans on September 24th, 3-2. The Hawks are playing the best they can after their middle blocker is on the bench because of an injury.
“I think we are struggling without Ziya, with her being such a big part of our team it is a huge adjustment,” Raygen Dutton said, “I do not think we played badly, I think it was just a game we were not ready to come into. We were not expecting them to bring it.”
