The Lakeland Cross-Country team competed at the Timberlake Farragut invitational on September 7th.
“I have done this tournament all four years,” Noah Best said, “I like talking to other teams. I think I placed pretty well, but I do not think I ran my best race. I am gonna run really hard with my teammates at the next meet.”
The varsity boys beat out all the local 5A schools.
“The boys goal was to have the top 5 varsity boys finish within two minutes of each other, they ended up being 1 minutes 2 second apart,” Shannon Hall said, “They beat the other goal we want them to be 1 minute time difference and see our 6th and 7th place runners decrease their end.”
The Hawks are definitely showing out this season and are going to make a good run for state. They have the teams that matter beat so far and they will continue improving throughout the season.
“I did better than I thought I would. I am happy with how I ended up doing,” Frank McCarthy, “I think the team should get closer to each other and make our team spread smaller. I love the down of the course.”
Frank McCarthy got 5th overall in the district and if he stays in the top 10 he will be qualifying for state.
“The girls were only two points behind Moscow. We are very close to qualifying two for state for girls,” Shannon Hall.
The girls are definitely showing improvement and are getting close to being second within the local 5A schools.
The next cross-country meet is Saturday, the 21st at Lake Rosevelt National Recreation.
