The Lakeland High School track team traveled to Boise, Idaho, on May 16-18.
There was a lot of success in all areas, and many athletes were placed in the state and took home some hardware.
“I think it was very successful. We qualified 18 or 19 of our athletes,” said Jacob Munyer, “In every jumper, we had three PRed, and one was a state champ. I would like to get kids better at long since triple jump and high jump are turning it up.”
In LHS’s jumping areas, they did exceptionally well with multiple participants placing.
Zyia Munyer placed first in the girls’ triple jump, measuring 36’ 05”.
Ben Roth took fourth place in the boys’ high jump and obtained a 6’ 2” personal record.
For the girls’ high jump, Macy Bretveld placed fourth at state with the pr of 5’.
For the relay compartment of things, this track team did great. They traveled all of that and performed above and beyond.
Natalee Rose, Sapphire Ruelle, Melia Gilbert, and Karstyn Keifer took fourth at state for the girls 4×200 with a time of 1:47.06.
Regan Wright, Gilbert, Kiefer, and Ruelle took second in the state for the 4×100 with a time of 49.39, and they even set a new school record.
Ruelle took fifth place in the girls’ 100m relay, and her time was 12.77.
Ruelle took sixth in the girls’ 200m relay.
“I feel excited for how much improvement I can make, and since I’m already placed as a freshman, I can’t wait to see what I will be placing as a senior,” said Ruelle.
Ruelle has been placed in many events and has taken back several medals of proof. Ruelle was placed in the most events for LHS’s track team.
“Not complaining about hard workouts and putting in the extra work will improve us for next year,” said Ruelle.
Apollo Gratzinger, Scott Glass, Jaren Yager, and Weston Suputski placed sixth in the boys 4×200 and had a time of 1:31.27.
For the boys’ 100 m relay, Weston Suputski placed sixth and had a time of 11.16.
Gratzinger, Yager, Karle, and Suputski placed fifth for the boys 4×100 in the state.
