Living in a semi-small town, there are limited things to do, especially when the closest activities are at least a fifteen-minute drive.
We have places to eat, most of which are fast-food and a few nicer restaurants.
Regrettably, Rathdrum lacks the vibrant recreational activities that many of us crave.
Neighboring the town are Silverwood and Triple Play. That is pretty much it for activities and those can get repetitive.
Let’s envision the potential for growth and development in Rathdrum. We need to listen to what Rathdrum needs—improvements, additions, and innovations that can transform our community.
This opinion represents the collective voice of our community, especially our younger members, who are the future.
We need to recognize the immense impact a united community can have. By coming together, we can make great things happen. But to do that, we need more opportunities for involvement.
“I mean, yeah, the school has its part in the community, but I want to see more come from the community itself,” Brock Raebel said.
This means more ways to come together, serve, and give back. Everyone always sees shows about small towns where everybody knows each other. That can be our reality.
Just because we do not have a small population does not mean we can not take the time to get to know each other. All it takes is loving your neighbor, waving, or saying hi if you see them in the yard. It can start with just one person.
Let’s give back to our community. Let’s come together to support and uplift the people in our community. Rathdrum should not just be a place we live but a place we all call home.
On top of building our community, we need more things to do. Adding more attractions may bring more people in but can also help support a local business owner. It also just gives the people of this town something to enjoy.
“I feel like it needs more shops. It would add more culture,” Naomi Fritts said.
It makes everyone feel safer if they feel at home in our community.
“I think our community needs Spiderman,” Matthew Greene said.
