For the past few months, the comeback of the digital camera has been an accurate fixation of teens all over. The ongoing trend has recently taken teens into a tight grasp of older culture.
Digital cameras are starting to become so popular because we teens grew up looking at our parents’ photos or even some of our old baby photos taken on these cameras. The nostalgia comes back when using these cameras, attracting the younger generation.
One of the arguments is that the iPhone has better quality and is more efficient, but others would disagree.
“I like the digital cameras because you can leave your phone at home and still be able to take pictures of the moments you want to remember without actually taking away from them,” Charlotte Wiebach said.
With digital cameras being such a hit in the late ’90s, parents are now more confused than ever with their kids being so obsessed over these cameras.
Watching how much cameras have developed and even the quality of phone cameras, it is odd that someone would want a digital camera when the quality is lower than the camera in their phone.
However, this is only part of the truth for newer digital cameras.
While the development of phone cameras has been coming with higher quality, so have these new digital cameras.
Newer cameras have more settings and higher quality that capture more of the moment.
Some even have it just to hold more storage than their phone.
“I like them because they are easy to carry around, and if you are out of service or out in nature, it is a fun way to still take pictures and save them later,” Harmony Williams said.
Another reason these cameras are trending again is because they are smaller and easier to carry around.
These cameras’ light weight and size make them like a little accessory.
It is easier to carry a digital camera and still get high-quality pictures.
Social media plays a significant role in the comeback, too. The high-quality pictures of the digital camera make people’s pages more “trendy” and an easy way to evaluate a person’s Instagram feed.
“I think everyone kind of saw the trend come up and caught on because they want that Y2K look, and the flash of the photos also makes their features look brighter; it is also just aesthetically pleasing for their Instagram feeds,” Williams said.
Digital cameras have been around for a long time and are not going anywhere soon. The new features and high quality of the ones coming out interest teens more. Digital cameras are a fun way to capture the moment without taking up much storage or time on your phone.
Cameras also work out of service, and some even go underwater. The attraction of these cameras is what makes them so prevalent in today’s society.
Having a digital camera myself they are a fun way to take photos with friends. I also like the older look they give the images while still being high-quality.
