The Lakeland Hawks varsity tennis team competed in a tournament in Spokane on April 26. They lost and did not move on to play April 27.
Ben Ryan split 1-1 and Charlotte Wiebach lost 0-2. Doubles partners Brock Raebel and Jayden Ruelle split 1-1, Toby Tebbe and Shelby Wear lost 0-2, Maddie Andres and Libby Hatcher also lost 0-2, and Maverick Gerrior and Ethan Hunt lost 1-2.
Brock Raebel and Jayden Ruelle competed in the mixed doubles division and were able to capture a win. Brock said that they did well overall, but there were things they could have improved on.
Raebel said that they did alright, and he was happy they won.
“We played alright first game, and I was glad we won,” Raebel said
The Hawks also had a game on May 1 against Coeur d’Alene Charter.
Ben Ryan won 7-5, 6-3 against CDA Charter’s Sam Garn in singles.
Shelby Wear and Toby Tebbe also won against CDA Charter with scores of 1-6, 6-1 and 10-8.
Tebbe said that he thinks they could have done better overall and feels that next time, they need to improve their net shots.
“We could have worked on our net shots, but overall we did good,” Tebbe said.
The Hawks play next on May 3 at Lewiston High School.
