The Lakeland Hawks hosted the Lakeland Invite for track and field on Thursday, April 25.
The boy’s track team found success in the longer races and hurdles.
Parker Sterling took fourth place in the 1600-meter dash with a time of 4 minutes and 47.25 seconds.
Charlie Mattila took fourth place in the 3200-meter dash with a time of 10 minutes and 36.66 seconds.
The 4×100-meter relay took third place with a time of 44.84, which was a PR for Apolo Gratzinger, Kayden Karle, Jaron Yager and Weston Saputski.
The Throwers 4×100-meter relay took second place and was also a PR for Hunter Steward, Brayden Carrel, Ben Roth, and Peyton Sardinha with a time of 50.79 seconds.
The 4×200-meter relay team also took second place with Evan Randall, Gratzinger, Yager, and Saputski with a time of 1 minute and 34.67 seconds.
The 4×400-meter relay team took second place with Ethan Abbott, Gratzinger, Sardinha, and Yager and a time of 3 minutes and 35.35 seconds.
Peyton Hillman and Ben Roth took second and third place in javelin, respectively, with throws of 133 feet and 7 inches and 127 feet and 8 inches.
Ben Roth took fourth place in the high jump with 5 feet and 8 inches.
Garret Hall took fourth place in the long jump, 18 feet and 8.5 inches.
The girls succeeded equally in their events and pulled through in shorter races and distances.
Sapphire Ruelle took first place in the 100-meter with 13.11 seconds and second place in the 200-meter with 26.59 seconds.
Maddison Chapple took second place in the 1600-meter with 5 minutes and 45.56 seconds and second in the 3200-meter with 13 minutes and 2.20 seconds.
Karsytn Kiefer took first place in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.25 seconds, followed by Bailey Chadwell in fourth place with a time of 18.6 seconds.
Kiefer also took first in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 49.92 seconds, and Alanna Hinkle took third place with a time of 51.44 seconds.
The Throwers 4×100-meter relay, made up of Annabella Palaniuk, Isabelle Meredith, Gracee Jamison, and Micah Bretveld, took second place, also getting a PR with a time of 59.16 seconds.
The 4×200-meter relay with Natalee Rose, Melia Gilbert, Kiefer, and Ruelle took second place, also getting a PR with a time of 1 minute and 48.43 seconds.
Jackie Robbins took second place in discus with a throw of 111 feet and 9 inches.
Alana Hinkle took third place in pole vault with a jump of 9 feet
Gilbert took fourth place in the long jump with a jump of 14 feet and 6.75 inches.
Ziya Munyer took first place in the triple jump, jumping 4 feet and 1 inch.
