Horse girl is a term used to describe someone obsessed with horses, but Charlee Friddle is so much more than that.
“Three words I would use to describe her are funny, easy to talk to and extremely outgoing,” Gracie Gurney said.
Growing up around horses has dramatically impacted her life and even influenced her future profession.
Due to this, she is involved in many rodeo events and has competed at the North Idaho Caribou County Fair.
She has lived every young girl’s dream of being a rodeo queen. The young women ride out on decked-out horses in their glitter and glam, waving the American flag to kick off a rodeo. She did this for seven years.
Every summer, she travels down south and stays there to compete in rodeo events such as barrel racing and reigning. She has fallen in love with the exhilaration this hobby brings her.
“The bonus of doing rodeo is getting to wear a buckle that shows off your accomplishments,” Friddle said.
Agriculture, in general, has been a considerable part of her life, not just from being around horses but also growing up with cattle and other animals.
Since agriculture is a big part of her life, she has chosen to partake in Future Farmers of America (FFA) at Lakeland High School.
She began FFA her freshman year and fell in love with the blue corduroy and its community. Knowing other family members and friends who have done this has inspired her to join. She is an active member and has brought abundant experience to the team. She also holds a leadership position on the officer team as a historian. The historian’s job is to record everything the chapter does and store the chapter’s memories to reflect on later years.
She hopes to continue this passion for agriculture by becoming an equine veterinarian one day. She has always loved horses and wants to work with them for the rest of her life.
“I have always wanted to be an equine veterinarian,” Friddle said.
It helps that she already trains colts and horses daily and has grown up around them, so she knows a thing or two about them.
Agriculture is one of many things that Friddle has taken interest in. She has also participated in her fair share of sports, from basketball, softball, swimming and gymnastics, she has done it all.
Unfortunately, she got injured during her freshman year of high school and could no longer participate in gymnastics. This led to her taking a break from the sport for good due to all the injuries.
However, she has been considering dabbling into a new sport her junior year. She wants to join the LHS Cheer Team.
“It seems so much fun, and I have tumbling skills, so I think that could help the team,” Friddle said.
