Head Line: Post Secondary, Anyone?
Lakeland High School ooffers a fantastic program in collaboration with the University of Idaho called TRIO ETS.
TRIO ETS is a program that is funded by the state of Idaho. The program provides academic, career and financial counseling to everyone who wants to participate in the program.
The program’s sole purpose is to help students explore career and educational plans, including colleges, trade schools, technical programs, apprenticeships or vocational schools.
Students who are a part of TRIO ETS can participate in free field trips, workshops, tutoring and family events.
These events allow students the chance to find something that interests them. They also offer a vast amount of support for students at any stage of their life. Whatever someone is going through, or needs help with, TRIO ETS is here to help them.
If students need to learn what they want to do after high school, go on a few field trips until something sparks their interest.
If students know what they want to do after high school but want to get more information about it, they can choose to go to things that are involved with what they want to do.
If a student has even just a couple of ideas about what they want to do after high school, TRIO ETS can help them find what they want to do or give them a couple of pictures.
Students can choose whatever events they want to attend or do not want to attend that the program offers. It is optional because it is not required, but any student can take it.
The program also helps students find some skills they have and develop skills that will help them with whatever they want to pursue after high school.
TRIO ETS can also assist them in developing skills outside of school that could be very beneficial when they want to enter the workforce.
The state fully pays for everything, so students must pay nothing out of pocket.
The program accepts people just about anyone —people from any background, any race, or any gender. The program does not discriminate and is open to all students at LHS.
“It is one hundred percent free for anyone who wants to join,” Trevor Miller said.
Miller represents the program for many schools in the north Idaho area. He aims to help everyone know what they want to do after high school.
His biggest goal is to help people. He has helped many students before with TRIO ETS to find what they are passionate about and what they want to do after high school.
He can be constantly found encouraging students to join his program on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the Libary, or you can email him at [email protected].
If the student is still trying to figure out what they want to do after high school, they can talk to Trevor for more information about what they might be interested in.
TRIO ETS is a beneficial program for students who need help figuring out what they want to do after high school, which, in most cases, is about every single student.
