The Lakeland Hawks men’s basketball (9-11) team finished up regular season play against the Lake City Timberwolves (13-8). The Hawks were defeated on the Timberwolves senior night by a score of 76-58.
Senior Bradyn Arrieta from Lake City tied for a game-high with points with 17, and senior Reese Strawn also added 17 points of his own.
Ben Ryan had 14 points for the Hawks. Peyton Hillman had 12 points of his own, and Tyler Norce scored eight points.
Senior Toby Tebbe has been out since Dec. 8, when he was taken out by a Lewiston defender, which resulted in Tebbe fracturing his leg. He has been working hard to rehab and make sure his ankle is healed and ready for districts.
“It went well for the most part,” Tebbe said. “We gave up runs in certain parts of the game, and that is what killed us.”
This ended the regular season for the Hawks, who will face the Sandpoint Bulldogs on Monday in a loser-out game.
The Hawks have already beaten the Bulldogs at home during Battle for the Paddle by a score of 67-58.
“We are working on pushing the ball up the court,” Tebbe said. “I think if we can do this well, we can beat Sandpoint again and work towards beating Moscow.”
The winner of LHS and SHS will then play the Moscow Bears in a best-of-three series, where the winner of that will go to state.
The loser-go-home game will take place on Monday, Feb. 19 at Hawk Court at 6 p.m.
