Over the two week break, many students had different experiences with how they chose to spend their two weeks.
During the winter break, Baylee Frank and Bryson Frank took a family vacation to Oahu, Hawaii.
Although a tropical trip seemed like the best possible option, Baylee Frank spent her time in Hawaii with a cold. During their time in Hawaii, they swam and ate a lot. Frank’s favorite thing to eat there was pizza from a pizza truck, and she described the lady as very kind. She also added it made the food taste better.
All of the food they ate there was a new experience native to the culture. During their time there, they went to the beach and went snorkeling. Frank wishes their family had gone on a Catamaran Cruise, but they did not because their dad tends to get seasick.
Frank enjoyed spending time in the warm weather instead of being home in the freezing temperatures. If they had not gone to Hawaii, their family would have gone to Montana on their property and participated in winter activities there instead.
Still, Frank would not have changed it for the world because she had grown fond of being in the warm weather.
“It was great getting away from home and the cold to go to the beaches and relax. Even though I was sick, I still loved every minute of it,” Frank said.
Bryson Frank’s favorite part about the entire trip was coming back to school with a tan.
Frank enjoyed being in the warm, away from the freezing temperatures at home. Frank dreaded coming home because of the freezing temperatures, and he wished he was still on the warm beaches. Frank’s least favorite family activity they did was going on a hike because he decided to wear his new shoes and ruined them with the orange mud.
He enjoyed his time snorkeling with everyone to see the fish and reefs. Although Frank loves the snow, it was pleasant to get away from the cold and experience warmth before returning to the cold and school.
“I made so many memories, and I loved spending time with my family in a scenic place,” Frank said.
The Frank family cherished this trip to escape the cold and the seasonal depression. Going to a warm place reset their mindsets and made them happier.
They both came back with so many unforgettable memories, and they seem to be happier people now. Maybe getting a different view during these dark times helped both of them, and they seem to be getting along better.
Although the Frank family escaped the cold to go on a warm adventure, Broxton Lukey’s family did not.
Instead of taking a trip to a new location, Lukey and his family decide to stay home and find activities to do within the area.
During the two-week break, Lukey was able to catch up on snow theme activities that are often popular in North Idaho.
Over break, Lukey went snowboarding multiple times and played basketball.
Snowboarding wasn’t the only thing Lukey did. He also took the time to go out for snowmobiling.
“Over break, I wish I went to Mexico because it’s warm. I’m quite jealous Bryson went to Hawaii because it was actually warm there, unlike here,” Lukey said.
In the end, most people wish they went to a warmer place rather than stay in the cold temperatures.
