While everyone else exits the school and hops into their cars for lunch, the first-year students watch as they have to stay at the school. Everyone has been a freshman and knows the pain of that.
With it being Battle for the Paddle week, the school is offering extended lunch passes.
Students can purchase a pass for ten dollars at the office that day before lunch, permitting them to leave ten minutes early from their fourth period and arrive ten minutes late to their fifth period.
Some people think this is a great opportunity. The money raised will go towards fundraising efforts for Battle for the Paddle, and it will allow for more lunchtime for students.
Additionally, the freshmen who purchase these passes are allowed to go off-campus for lunch, which is an exciting opportunity.
“I love that they included us in this,” LHS freshman Parker Sterling said.
Though many students enjoy the extended lunch, this may present an additional challenge for teachers, especially with finals approaching.
A student walking in late to their class can be a distraction and force the teacher to go over everything again, which can be frustrating.
However, it can be nice to miss part of class and get a headstart at lunch.
I think it should be something that is offered all year round.
“They should offer this more often,” Sterling said.
It would raise a lot of money for whatever we need at school. Having a 50-minute lunch is something many students would pay money for.
“Not being able to go off campus sucks,” LHS freshman Griffin Tamagni said.
