The student council at LHS has officially organized all of the fundraising events for Battle for the Paddle.
One of the annual fundraisers for Battle for the Paddle is the Neon Nights dance. However, this year, the dance theme has changed to the Winter Wonderland Winter Formal.
“To spice things up, we decided to switch the theme,” Senior President Ben Ryan said. “We have had feedback from the students that we should change things up as far as the Neon Night Dance. People like the idea of having another dance rather than just homecoming and prom.”
There are also other differences as far as the dance. The theme is different. It is a Sadie Hawkins dance, which means girls will ask guys to go to the dance and make other small changes that will make the dance memorable.
“We wanted to give the student body something new, hopefully, something that they are interested in,” Ryan said. “We have been asked about girls asking guys to dance for a while to spice things up. We have had feedback from the students that we should change things up as far as the neon night dance,” Ryan said.
The school only has a few opportunities for dances, so taking this opportunity to go to a new dance and to help raise money for the school’s biggest competition against Sandpoint is worth it.
Going to the Winter Formal will be a great experience, and it will help the school raise money to win Battle for the Paddle.
“Not only is it a fun event that you can go to with friends, but it is also a good way to help the community and help us win the Battle for the Paddle,” Ryan said. “It’s also just to enjoy your time as a high schooler. Going to dances and stuff have been the best parts of high school for me as a senior looking back on it.”
The dance will take place on Saturday, January 16th, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. It is $10 for a single ticket and $18 for a couples ticket, but tickets will only be sold at the door. The line is going to start outside the aux gym so that people are not freezing outside, which was an issue at homecoming.
The entry fee for the dance is more affordable than homecoming or prom, so it is a good opportunity for everyone to go and have fun.
