Even though the state tournament starts during school, the school has arranged to take a spirit bus. Usually state is held in Boise, so this is a unique opportunity.
Any student who wants to attend needs to get a permission slip from the office and purchase an entry ticket for $14. Students can purchase an entry ticket on the app “GoFan” to ride the bus. Students will have to show proof of ticket purchase along with the signed permission slip to ride the bus.
The bus will leave at 8:30 a.m. and come back to the school around 11 a.m.
State is being held at Post Falls High School, so everyone has the opportunity to go support the team. The bus may get back a little later or earlier, depending on how long the game may take.
If anyone is worried about missing school, absences for the district game will be excused if you are on the bus. This is a great way to show the volleyball team the student body’s support.
This is a unique opportunity that is highly encouraged by all teachers and administration. There must be at least 40 students attending the bus ride to make the trip possible.
“So we just talked as a team, it’s a great opportunity for our students. Let’s see if we have enough interest to make it happen,” Shannon LaFountaine, the assistant principal, said.
With the hope that enough students will attend, the admin for the school is excited to give this opportunity to the school.
Not only do students get to miss school, but they also get the opportunity to show the team that they are supported.
Having a student section makes the LHS volleyball team more motivated and ready to win.
“Having a student section makes everyone more hype, and we can feel the energy more,” Ella Terzulli said.
It is so important to support the volleyball players as they work hard to beat the other teams at state.
“So having state up north doesn’t happen very often, so to have it 10 minutes away, so being able to be a part of that, we always have a great student section at our home games, so it’s a great opportunity to be a part of that,” said LaFountaine.
Keeping the energy up during this important time for the volleyball team is crucial for the team to do good. With the student body going to support them, the team will have more energy to keep trying throughout the day.
“I am super excited, and I think we’re going to do really well,” Terzulli stated.
The volleyball team has high hopes for state, and everyone who is interested in going should attend.
“It adds an atmosphere of excitement and support. It is definitely an advantage. If we can take advantage of it and build that excitement, we might as well take that advantage.” Lafountaine said.
The Hawks, who obtained the number two seed, will play the number seven seed, Canyon Ridge, on Friday, October 27 at 9 a.m.
