Walking down the halls of Lakeland High School, students might recognize a shining smile that belongs to Piper Schneider. Her bright eyes filled with joy and caring.
Upon meeting her, students might instantly feel as though they can talk to her easily about whatever the conversation brings. Schneider is a person engaged with the people around her.
She is involved in many extracurricular activities at LHS and has a high-set goal for her involvement.
“I feel like it is important to make an impact, and I want to finish my high school career as somebody people know,” Schneider said.
Many students go to school without being involved in any extracurricular activities. Students like Schneider can make a large impact on school without realizing it.
Schneider does swim, student council, Hello Hawks and track. Schneider also helps out and works in the social bean at LHS before school and sometimes during lunch. Balancing these activities can be difficult for many students, but not Schneider.
“I’m able to balance it well,” Schneider said. “There are days that it feels overwhelming, but I do good at balancing it and keeping up with everything.”
Schneider is also a sophomore class representative in the student council. She works alongside some of the hardest-working students at LHS. Her peers describe her as hardworking and caring.
“She is very passionate about what she does, and this makes her much easier to work with,” Ella Clark, ASB Vice President, said.
Schneider’s character radiates positively to the students around her.
“She is always willing to listen to what you have to say, and she loves to lend a helping hand,” Clark said.
Aside from the academic side of Schneider, she also has many hobbies outside of the classroom. Going beyond the boundaries of the swimming pool or student council room where the magic happens, Scheider is a social butterfly who enjoys spending time with her friends and family.
“My friends and family are the most important people in my life,” Schneider said, “They help everyone during a rough time, and it is always important to have someone to rely on.”
Schnieder thinks of herself as a friendly person.
“I’m not an introverted person. I can talk a lot. I feel like I have a good social battery, and I like to be a social butterfly,” Schneider said.
One of Schneider’s lesser-known hobbies is jewelry making. She does this often in her free time and feels like it is a thing not many people know about her.
After graduation, Schneider hopes to become a pediatric nurse.
Mackenzie Frank, one of Schneider’s closest friends, instantly clicked with Schneider when they met during track season last year.
“She’s a kind person. I met her right when I started track, and we became best friends a week or two after we met. We’ve been friends ever since,” Frank said.
Instant connections are challenging for many people to make, but with people like Schneider, it becomes easier.
Frank and Schneider are not only best friends but teammates as well.
“It makes it helpful having a close friend in your sport because you get a lot more support and constructive criticism. She helps encourage me,” Frank said.
In a world filled with people who are downers and don’t work hard, be a Piper Schneider and radiate the positive energy that will help connect with people and put a smile on their faces.
