The Lakeland High School girls’ soccer team lost in the first round of district playoffs, 5–0.
This ended the season for the Hawks, who finished with a final record of 3-8.
It was a good rebuilding season for the Hawks, as they had many close games and are looking forward to next year.
Sophomore Reesa Saxe was sad with how the last game went against Moscow but was happy overall with how she did and how the team did as a whole.
“As a team, I feel like we learned a lot. A lot of my teammates got injured, so we had to learn to adapt and to play without them,” Saxe said.
The team is excited going into next year while losing pivotable parts of the team. The Hawks will be losing four seniors, including Caitlin Eiluk, Shelby Wear, Regan Wright, and Caroline Gallus.
“Going into next year, I feel a lot more prepared. Going into this year, I felt like I was prepared, but in fact, I definitely learned a lot and got better as a teammate and a player in general,” Saxe said.
Even though the Hawks ended the season not on the best terms, the season as a whole was full of ups and downs.
With so many injuries plaguing the Hawks starting lineup, having only 1-2 substitutions per game, and even some games having no substitutions, the Hawks are ready to put this one in the books and are already gearing up for next year.
