Devon Rodgers is a junior at Lakeland High School. Rodgers has many outside-of-school activities he enjoys taking part in. Some of his hobbies include football, basketball, running and hiking.
Rodgers broke his ankle several years ago playing against Post Falls High School. Despite the injury, playing against PFHS is something Rodgers wants to do again.
”I can easily hit people, I’m very violent,” Rodgers said. “And to protect my team against Post Falls.”
Rodgers is a physical and aggressive player. Rodgers one day wishes to play for the San Francisco 49ers or the Seattle Seahawks. As a physical and aggressive football player, it’s important to prioritize athletic conditioning in your training regimen.
Incorporating cardio, strength training, and agility drills into your routine can help improve your physical strength and endurance, ultimately enhancing your performance on the field. However, it’s important to remember to always consult with a trainer or coach to ensure that you are performing the exercises correctly and safely to reduce the risk of injury.
After high school, Rodgers plans to play football at the next level.
“I want to go to college at the University of Idaho,” Rodgers said. “I want to go there so I can play college ball, and I can get drafted by the Niners or the Seahawks.”
Another extracurricular activity Rodgers enjoys is basketball. Rodgers usually plays basketball and lunch with Levi Abbott and Tre Tatom.
Abbott has a good time with Rodgers and says he is a great player. Rodgers plays basketball to take his mind off of things going on in his life.
Sports can be an excellent way to take a student’s mind off of things in life. Engaging in physical activity can help reduce stress, increase endorphins, and improve overall mood. When focused on playing a sport, it’s easier to let go of any worries or distractions and fully immerse yourself in the game.
Additionally, sports provide a sense of accomplishment and can help boost self-esteem, which can further improve mental well-being. Whether playing football or another sport, getting active can be a great way to clear your mind and improve your overall mental health.
Rodgers puts in the work by staying at lunch to play basketball with his friends as often as possible.
“I’d say it’s pretty fun, and he’s a dog at basketball, he makes most of his shots, and his dribbling skills are pretty good; no one can really guard him,” said Abbott. “He’s very intimidating when he has to guard you, and his defense is pretty good, and I would say he’s super vocal, so I always know what I need to do and go.”
His least favorite class is math because he does not find it as easy as other subjects.
One of the reasons he participates in sports is to take his mind off of the stress of school.
His favorite class is athletic conditioning, and his least favorite is math. Athletic conditioning is an important aspect of sports training. By improving physical strength and endurance, athletes can enhance their performance and reduce the risk of injury.
Conditioning exercises can include cardio, strength training and agility drills that are designed to improve your overall fitness level.
By incorporating these exercises into your sports training routine, students can become better athletes and enjoy the mental and physical benefits that sports have to offer. Remember to always consult with a trainer or coach to ensure that you are performing the exercises correctly and safely.
“I bench 200 pounds, squat 215 and I clean 185,” said Rodgers. Lifting weights is an essential part of football training.
It helps to build strength, increase endurance, and improve overall performance on the field.
