The Humans of Lakeland features members of the LHS community. This is the sixteenth in the series.
“To be honest, there are a lot of new things happening in my life lately. I have recently gone back to school and started a new position here at Lakeland High School. Even though I am new, it does not feel that way. The staff and students I have come in contact with, even as the detention aid, have been great, and I have had nothing but a positive experience. I am going back to school to get my master’s in education for school counseling. At my last job, I did one-on-one remediation academically, and a lot of those sessions turned into helping kids with problem-solving and social situations. I felt the need to transition from the more academic-based interactions. I love being able to connect with the students. I think it is a great thing to be able to be afraid but still move forward to something new. New beginnings, new journeys, and knowing that I am able to do it, it has all been really great.”
