The Lakeland High School golf team has been flying above the competition in 2023. The team has won tournaments by large margins, and sophomore Cannon Steckman earned a medal, developing himself as a prime target for opponents.
Cannon Steckman hit only 70 at Prairie Falls Golf Club, earning himself a spot on the podium and proving to all that he is a threat on the green.
Tyler Zachary also did really well with just 72 strokes at The Links Golf Club.
For a tie amongst teammates, Tristan Chamness hit 76, the same as Jakob Jovick, who hit 76 at Prairie Falls Golf Club.
“We have not won in a while… it is a major win for us,” Steckman said. He added that Coeur d’Alene will be a difficult opponent.
During the Prairie Falls tournament, Lakeland came in first place, showing all the other schools that we are at the top of the golf scene in North Idaho.
The Lakeland boys’ team went in there and dominated the playing field, scoring 303.
We beat out other high-ranking schools in that tournament, such as Post Falls, Lewiston, Lake City, Moscow, and Sandpoint.
