“Sports have always been a big part of my life. I pretty much grew up in a gym because both my parents are varsity coaches, so it feels like a second home to me. Playing sports makes me feel relaxed, and I honestly could not imagine my life without them. I am a varsity softball and volleyball player which is a lot of work and requires a lot of hard work and dedication, but I enjoy it. When I am playing sports, I feel relaxed because they allow me to escape from everything else in the outside world. I love to play the game and I love to be around people I appreciate, specifically my teammates and coaches. The bond between team members is important to me. A few years ago my volleyball coach died of cancer in the middle of the season, which was a huge setback for the team. It took a lot of time for us to recover but we all supported each other to get through. My biggest influences for sports were my parents, since they are both varsity head coaches they have both heavily impacted my athletic career. I also look up to my older brother because he is a good person and inspires me. Some advice I would give to a young athlete is to never give up because you never know what could happen in the future.”
