Hawks win their first game vs Post Falls since 2001
February 7, 2022
The streak is snapped! On Feb. 5, the Lakeland Hawks(8-7)finally ended a losing streak to the Post Falls Trojans(3-15) that has stood since January of 2001. The final score was 57-44, which was finalized in the fourth quarter, where the Trojans got outscored 17-9 and committed seven turnovers. The Trojans were victorious in the previous 27 matchups against the Hawks, making Saturday’s victory just a little sweeter for head coach Tony Hanna’s team.
Lakeland played stellar defense on the road against Post Falls in the game and didn’t allow any Trojan players to score in the double-digits. The Trojans are yet to win a league game this year and seem to be struggling against 4A schools such as Lakeland as well.
Senior forward Grant Roth scored a team-leading 20 points, including two early three-pointers in the opening quarter. Senior forward Abe Munyer also played a good game and contributed 13 points of his own. The only other Hawk to score more than ten points was senior guard Bryce Henry, who finished with 12.
The Hawks will play next on Feb. 9 in a road game against the Lewiston Bengals.
