Over Worked
October 15, 2021
Working is a choice that everyone chooses to make. With that choice, you are getting rewarded for your work and a lot of people 14 and older start looking for a job or they already have one.
For teenagers, having a job on top of taking care of school and maybe even sports takes a special kind of person.
Being able to balance school, work, and, for some, sports is not only considered a skill but takes a huge responsibility. Reasons ranging from having to constantly schedule your work hours and making it to practice then getting home to finish the homework you have to do.
Stress is extremely common for the average teenager because sometimes we take more than we can handle or we take too long to do something and put it off to the last minute. As for adults, they experience a different kind of stress but of course, they have gone through the stress of being a student.
Most teachers have things they have to do outside of school. Richard Anderson, the varsity football coach and history teacher for Lakeland Highschool, has a lot on his plate in his day-to-day life.
During football season he is constantly busy with football practice, games, grading, and making time for his family. Also, he has a farm, an acre consisting mainly of garden-related things, and an orchard that he all has to attend to.
In the 9th grade class at Lakeland Highschool, Maverick Gerrior has been recognized by most for his ability to play football and get grades of A’s and B’s. With practice on certain days after school and assignments needing to be dealt with he manages to get good grades.
Sports is a huge responsibility for students because you can’t have any failing grades, though before you could attend practices now, as for the 2021-2022 school year, you have to catch up on school before attending practice and the games.
Students with jobs often run into an obstacle called time management. Having a job helps pay for their car, so they can’t really put off work.
For those who can manage their time with no difficulty are normally students recognized for the Green & Gold Assembly.
