The Lakeland Hawks(3-3) hosted the Timberlake Tigers(3-1) on Oct. 1 and ran through the Tigers en route to a 50-0 victory. The Hawks continued their ground and pound offense that they have commanded so successfully this season. As per usual as of late, John Cornish rushed for triple digits, putting up 108 yards and two scores on 14 carries.

The game was also senior night for Lakeland, to celebrate the seniors. Before the game started, seniors on the football team walked out to the field with their families celebrated their high school careers.

The Hawks held control from the kickoff to the final whistle and never let go of their grasp on the Tigers. Dual-threat quarterback, Devon Suko had a very dominant game, throwing for 135 yards and two touchdowns, while also running for 56 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

Thomas Calder celebrated his 17th birthday on gameday and scored two touchdowns in the opening quarter. The first score was a 30-yard rushing touchdown, and the second was just a few minutes later, racing past the Timberlake secondary on a 61-yard catch and run from Devon Suko.

On the other side of the ball, Lucas Williams had a great game, acquiring three tackles for loss. Thomas Calder and Skyler Huber each picked off Timberlake with an interception. The Hawks led 31-0 at the half and stayed in the driver’s seat throughout the game scoring three more touchdowns.

The Hawk’s offense made an appearance on KREM 2 news after Alden Waddington scored a touchdown in the third quarter. They took a picture after seeing the news camera and were flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct. However, since the Hawks had such a lofty lead, the penalty wasn’t costly.

Lakeland improved their record to 4-3 and will host Moscow on Oct. 8th at 7 p.m.
