Lakeland Baseball Preview

Liam Bradford, Sports Editor

After not getting a season last year and losing eleven seniors, the Lakeland baseball team is back and ready to win. The Hawks brought up quite a few lower classmen from last season to varsity, and they are ready to perform and earn their spot.

Coach Jason Bradbury said that he expects the team to have to take a couple of games to really gel together because a lot of his players haven’t played in over a year and have never played with each other before.

Some of the key players for the Hawks entering the season are middle infielders Peyton Wysong and Sean Tierney, outfielder Scott Pote, catcher Sam Pemberton, and pitcher Cam Harris.

Some of the top pitchers that coach Bradbury is looking at to lead his team to another district title are Bryson Fisher, Cam Harris, and Blaze Day among others.

When asked about the best bats on his team that he has witnessed so far, he said “A lot of these guys are out of practice and haven’t swung a bat in a long time but Cam Harris and Scott Pote are swinging really nice bats right now and I’m looking forward to seeing these younger guys get some cuts on varsity”.

Coach Bradbury said that this team has a very high ceiling and is really excited in the next few years to see the younger guys develop and improve to starting guys.

The Lakeland Hawks first game is on Tuesday against Couer D’Alene.
