On Friday October 24, the Lakeland Hawks had a league win at home against the Lewiston Bengals. The end score was 42-17 after a hectic fourth quarter. It was 3-3 through half but it wasn’t until Griffin Tamagni had a 2-yard touchdown to make it 9-3 and take the lead at the end of the third quarter. Then in the fourth quarter Tamagni had a 86 yard touchdown with 1:56 left to give the Hawks a 35-17 lead. And Senior Peyton Hillman threw for 112 yards and ran for another 63. Also when the Bengals had 4:09 left they had a 78 yard kickoff return and Lakeland Senior Ben Bixby took advantage of the onside kick and returned it for a 50 yard touchdown.
“I think I did really well,” Griffin Tamagni said. “The first half we were kind of struggling a little bit but then the second half we came together and made things happen.”
Now Sandpoint, Lakeland, and Lewiston have to participate in a Kansas City tiebreaker on Monday at Coeur d’Alene High to decide the automatic qualifier to the state playoffs.
