Coughing, consistently blowing your nose, stuffy nose, nausea, body aches, head aches, groggyness… yet… we still have school. Even if you can’t physically go to school you are still falling behind.
Missing quizzes, assignments, labs, etc.
It sucks and it’s hard.
Not only are you trying to heal from whatever sickness you have but you are also trying to keep up with school.
Additionally, if you are an athlete it is likely that you are going to go to school so you can go to practice so that you can play in the games coming up.
So on top of feeling like the walking dead you have to make your brain functional at full capacity to keep up and your body functioning at top performance so you don’t let your team down.
How?
Great question.
How are students expected to keep up?
Well, I think that schools should create a policy where a student with a certain gpa should be able to dismiss a certain amount of assignments if they are out sick. On top of this a student with a certain gpa in higher ranked classes should be given more grace and time to catch up to his or her classes.
If a student has a certain gpa while in harder classes it should say something about the student. They are obviously responsible and have a good work ethic and deserve a pass when they are sick.
